Raising much-needed funds and awareness for the GRIT program (Growth-mindset Resilience Intervention for Teenagers), the Star Jump Challenge is taking place every day of Youth Week 2022 (April 3-10). Participants are asked to challenge themselves to a Star Jump every day between these dates, get their community involved, gather sponsors and share their efforts on social media.
Auburn PCYC manager James Frecklington who is back at the helm after two years of running PCYC Penrith, said he wanted to encourage all of the community to take part.
“Tailor the PCYC Star Jump Challenge to suit your lifestyle,” he said.
“You can do it anywhere, anytime, multiple times a day or night.
“You decide what you wear, what music you play, where you jump, and who you jump with. Share pics and videos using the hashtag #pcycstarjumpchallenge and strive to fundraise as much as you can for the chance to win some amazing prizes.
“If you’re less mobile, modify Star Jumps to suit your ability. For example, for upper body only and if you want a next-level progression, try it with light dumb bells.”
James says they are hoping to get as many people involved as possible.
“It’s as simple as clicking on this link, creating an account and joining team Auburn: pcycstarjumpchallenge.org.au,” he said.
Leap into challenge to support teens
THEY raised nearly $7,000 last year but this time Auburn PCYC members are hoping to smash $10,000 when they take part in next month’s Star Jump Challenge.
