Just before 1am last Sunday, police were conducting speed enforcement duties on the M5 at Revesby when they detected a Ford XR5 travelling in excess of the 100km/h limit.
The vehicle was stopped on the Heathcote Road off-ramp at Milperra, and officers spoke with the 16-year-old male driver, who produced a learner’s licence. There were two other young people inside the vehicle, neither of whom were licenced.
The driver was charged by way of a Court Attendance Notice for driving at speed dangerous, exceed speed limit over 45km/h, unaccompanied learner, and not display L plates. His licence was immediately suspended and confiscated.
Man hurt after crash into wall
POLICE are investigating a single vehicle crash in Earlwood on Sunday morning.
Just before 10.30am, police and emergency services were called after a Ford Falcon GT crashed into a wall outside a business on Fricourt Avenue, Earlwood.
Ambulance paramedics treated the 47-year-old male driver at the scene before taking him to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he is in a critical but stable condition.
While the crash damaged an exterior wall, there is reportedly no structural damage to the building.
An investigation is underway, and police are appealing for motorists who may have been in the area around the time of the crash – particularly those who have dash cam vision – to contact investigators.
Woman in officer assault arrest
A 48-year-old woman from Padstow has been charged with assaulting police and resisting arrest. Police allege that about 8.50pm on Friday, March 13, the woman was detained by police and placed in handcuffs when she swung her hands towards arresting police, attempted to bite the hands of police and successfully dug her nails in to the arm of an officer.
Tried to import ketamine drug
A MAN from Lakemba has been charged over the importation of ketamine, which was allegedly detected by Australian Border Force (ABF) officers in an air cargo consignment from the United Kingdom.
On Sunday, March 8, ABF officers allegedly located 1kg of ketamine – estimated potential street value of $170,000 – concealed within a package labelled as health supplements.
ABF officers identified and examined the consignment, which led to a presumptive test returning positive results for ketamine.
Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 34-year-old man outside a home on Rosecomb Road, Spring Farm, about 10.45am last Wednesday. Shortly after they executed a search warrant at a home at Lakemba, where they allegedly seized steroids and other items relevant to the investigation.
The man was was charged with import marketable quantity of border-controlled drug and supply prohibited drug.
