Kings gear up for cracker 2020 season

WITH training starting on February 4 for the seniors and February 25 for the juniors, Marrickville Kings Rugby League Club is gearing up for an awesome 2020.

With training typically held on a Tuesday and Thursday night from 5pm, and game days on Sundays, the club is offering free registration which includes player insurance, game fees, jersey, shorts and socks.
With the home ground of Marrickville Oval, 1 Livingstone Road, Marrickville, the club had wonderful return to form in in the last couple of years.
Player Anthony Mark Toga said: “2018 was an interesting year to say the least. Haven’t played footy in just over a decade, trained hard, ended up with a trophy .”
In 2019, Marrickville Kings were named the ‘Respect Club of the Year’ in the NSWRL Respect Program.
Coming back from fielding just one team in 2017, last year’s Kings fielded 10 teams, including Under 5s to Under 11s, Under 19s, A-grade and Women’s sides, with the Women’s and Under 6s making it to the semi-finals.
“We’ve worked hard to get it going again,” says club secretary Gerry Zapantis.
“We didn’t want to see it go as it’s such a great little family club.
“Last year was a good season and we just keep getting bigger and bigger.
“We’ve all grown up and gone to school with each other in the area and a lot of us now have kids of our own that are playing or will play eventually when they’re older.
“The club’s got a really good culture and we’re always on the lookout for new players too.
“We’re going to have a cracker season in 2020.”
