‘King George’ winning way to top on Survivor

Story by CINDY LYNCH

FREELY admitting he doesn’t mind making waves and believing you can’t achieve anything in life without getting in someone else’s way, Bankstown public servant George Mladenov continues to go from strength to strength on Channel 10’s Australian Survivor.
Outlasting many early favourites, with only 13 remaining, and now known as ‘King George’ after the Brains and Brawn tribe merged to create the Fire tribe, he says his guerrilla warfare campaign has included creating as much chaos as possible.
“I have just been trading war for war and using other people to take down my biggest threats,” he said.
“When I’ve been the target, I’ve made sure to create a bigger target; by putting Mitch and then Joey up on pedestals and then watching others take them down.”
Not happy to coast along in a bid to keep out of the spotlight and not be deemed a threat, George says his family and friends are thrilled that he is his authentic self on the show.
“It’s sometimes tough when you are tired and hungry; when I was at my lowest Cara sacrificed a lot to have my back,” he said.
“That’s an example of friendships developed from my original Brains tribe but I also have very close allies among the Brawns.
“My goal is essentially to be a double agent and I do see everyone as a threat but the ultimate strategy is to control the voting outcomes; King George didn’t come to Fire tribe to be symbolic, I came to rule.”
A Bankstown Greyhound Club director, George says it is wonderful to hear Bankstown Sports has become a vaccination centre.
“It just highlights the important contribution that clubs make to Bankstown and I hope when local residents see me doing well on Survivor it puts a smile on their face.
“I would also encourage all to vaccinate, don’t hesitate.”
