Covid-19 has changed life as we know it and the Kids Clinic Bankstown team is concerned about hidden impacts.
“We see the superficial changes such as face masks, vaccines, hand-sanitisers, check-ins and social distancing,” a Kids Clinic management spokesperson said.
“However, these observable changes are tokenistic compared with the impact this lockdown is having on businesses, families, mental health, and the welfare of the vulnerable – especially those with special needs.”
The team at Kids Clinic is extremely empathetic to all families who are suffering.
“We understand the importance of routine in the lives of children with special needs as they do not cope with changes very well,” the spokesperson said.
“We see increased stress on parents and caregivers as they try to deal their child’s escalating anxiety, depression, anger or disruptive behaviour on top of trying to address their child’s special needs.”
Despite the challenges this pandemic is bringing, the Kids Clinic remains operational and continuing to support families.
“We are working tirelessly and beyond operational hours to ensure families receive the support they need to get through,” the spokesperson said.
“We extend heartfelt apologies where we have not met our families’ needs in our usual swift delivery but we are continuing to empower families to rise above their challenges.
“It has been pleasing to see some of our children successfully transition to remote learning. It has actually had a positive impact on some of our patients’ anxiety levels as they can learn in a more controlled, secure and predictable environment.
