Judging begins to determine best

HUNDREDS of Cumberland City businesses have been celebrating after learning that they are among the finalists in this year’s Local Business Awards.

Precedent Productions Managing Director and Awards founder Steve Loe said an unprecedented number of nominations were received this year.
“The local community’s response to this year’s awards has been incredible,” he said.
“It just goes to show the enormous respect that they have for the small businesses that serve the Cumberland community.”
Finalists have been notified of their success and now the judging is underway.
Independent (and anonymous) judges have been visiting each finalist where possible to assess them based on criteria from a customer’s perspective – business presentation, products, value for money and customer service.
The awards culminate with a gala presentation evening at Wenty Leagues Club on Tuesday, October 11.
Mr Loe says the evening will feature wonderful entertainment, and local dignitaries will be there to lend their support, “but the real stars of the show are the finalists and winners”.
“The awards evening is always a glittering event, where our finalists dress up and let their hair down for an evening of entertainment, good food, relaxed conversation – and, of course, celebration,” he said.
“Just being there as a finalist is a huge achievement, and it is a great opportunity for business people and their teams to reflect on their successes with a fun night out.”
Mr Loe said the high quality of all nominees had made the job of judges a great pleasure but also immensely difficult.
“To be a finalist at the presentation evening is a huge achievement and everyone is always extremely proud to be there,” he said.
“I would like to congratulate all the finalists on their achievement and the Cumberland City community for the enormous support they show for their local businesses through the Awards every year.
“Without them, these outstanding businesses would not receive the recognition that they deserve.”
The Awards are supported by Platinum Partner Cumberland City Council; Major Partners Wenty Leagues Club, Stockland Merrylands, Primewest Auburn Megamall and NOVA Employment; and Support Partners Dooleys, The Greater Cumberland Chamber of Commerce and White Key Marketing.
