JP honoured for over five decades’ service

NSW Justices of the Peace (JPs) have been honoured for achieving more than half a century of service.

Among them was Dr Emile Chidiac who travelled from the East Hills electorate to NSW Parliament House for the one of the special ‘thank you’ ceremonies.
State MP for East Hills, Wendy Lindsay, said that the community of East Hills was indebted to the JPs ‘Class of 71’, who had shown remarkable dedication to serving their community for more than five decades.
“The JPs from East Hills have been witnessing and certifying documents for members of the community since 1971, and should be commended for the role they play at critical points in people’s lives,” Ms Lindsay said.
“I extend my gratitude to Dr Chidiac from the East Hills electorate for his over 50 years of service as a Justice of the Peace, and it was lovely to see him in the NSW Parliament to celebrate.”
Attorney General Mark Speakman remarked on the critical role JPs have played within their communities.
“It is important to recognise the countless hours JPs provide to people – whether they are applying for passports, needing a witness for a statutory declaration or affidavit or when they are buying and selling property,” he said.
