“So I decided to do something about it and got myself a rubbish picking up device and hope to inspire more locals to do the same,” he said.
“I’d felt sad that this has the potential to be a beautiful spot but the shoreline and trees are laden with plastics.
“So I posted what I was doing on a community facebook site to get some help and now there are about 16 of us.”
Collecting six garbage bags of rubbish on Sunday, Richard says it makes sense to do something useful while out and about.
“Everyone wants to have a nice environment and when people see you picking up the rubbish, they are very appreciative and want to say hello and thank you,” he said.
