Detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit (CSIU) established Strike Force Sciarra in July last year to investigate reports of allegedly corrupt activity by a male correctional officer.
On Friday morning, detectives arrested a 29-year-old Auburn man and seized a mobile phone during a search of an Audi RS3 at the Silverwater facility.
Two more mobiles were also seized during a search of the man’s Auburn home.
He has been charged with three counts of holder of public office misconduct.
CSIU detectives also laid a dozen additional charges on Thursday of using false document to obtain financial advantage against a 53-year-old female guard previously charged in December last year.
Police will allege in court that the woman submitted fraudulent doctors’ certificates as supporting documents for sick leave applications while working at a correctional facility at Silverwater.
Dial-a-Dealer arrests
A 28-YEAR-OLD from Granville is one of five men charged with a range of drug offences in relation to an alleged ‘Dial-a-Dealer’ syndicate.
Strike Force Gundain was established in August last year to investigate the supply of cocaine across Sydney’s north west and at 6am on Thursday, March 12, investigators raided three units in Granville, Ryde and Carlingford.
During the searches, officers allegedly seized more than $75,000 cash, mobile phones, laptops, documentation, a ballistics vest, steroids and equipment consistent with the supply of prohibited drugs, along with an estimated 1kg of cocaine, more than 2kg of a substance believed to be methylamphetamine and 117g of heroin.
The Granville man has been charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug, five counts of supply prohibited drug – indictable quantity, two counts of possess prohibited drug, and one of deal with property proceeds of crime.
A 26-year-old man arrested at Carlingford, two men, aged 27 and 32, arrested at Ryde and a 23-year-old man arrested on Friday, March 13, at Kellyville Ridge, have each been charged with a range of drugs related offences.
Investigations under Strike Force Gundain are continuing.
Search over stabbing
AN investigation is underway after a stabbing in Merrylands last Sunday, March 8.
Emergency services were called to Merrylands Road just after 8pm and found a man, allegedly armed with a machete, suffering a stab wound to his arm.
He surrendered his weapon and was arrested by police officers before being taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment to a non-life-threatening injury.
Police are searching for a second man they believe may be able to assist their investigation.
Break, enter offence
A GRANVILLE man arrested after allegedly trying to flee from police on patrol in Guildford last Saturday, March 7, has been charged with half a dozen break and enter offences.
Officers patrolling along Guildford Road spotted the man at 9.10pm and allegedly gave chase when he ran away from them.
He was also charged with three counts of enter enclosed lands, two counts of goods in custody and one of larceny.
Investigations are continuing.
Probe after dog bite
POLICE are trying to identify a dog suspected of attacking a teenager at Merrylands last Tuesday, March 10.
The 16-year-old was riding his bike on Merrylands Road near Croft Avenue when a dog, which was on a leash but not restrained, leapt up and bit him on the hand.
The man who was walking the dog is described as Caucasian, in his 30s and 170cm tall, and the dog was a grey Pitbull.
