Invite to march for ’16 Days of Activism’ push

MAYOR Lisa Lake is encouraging everyone to join in the march to launch ’16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence’ which runs from November 25 to December 10 annually.

Violence against women continues to occur at an alarming scale in every country in the world. During the 16 Days of Activism, people around the globe unite to raise awareness about gender-based violence, challenge discriminatory attitudes and call for improved laws and services to end violence against women for good.
With this year’s theme, ‘Unite! Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls’, the council, in partnership with the Jesuit Refugee Service, and the Domestic and Family Violence Community of Practice, will hold the Western Sydney Women’s March on Wednesday, November 29, from 1.30pm, where attendees will march from Merrylands Oval to Merrylands Civic Square.
