Invite for ex-students to join Alumni, help mentor youth

OVER 500 ex-students have already registered this year to form Trinity Catholic College Auburn’s first Alumni celebrating 130 years of Catholic education started by the Sisters of Charity in the Auburn and Regents Park areas.

Principal Rick Grech said it was a pleasant surprise to see so many former students taking up the offer after the school reached out on their social media pages.
“It gives us immense pleasure to assist in continuing these everlasting connections and to acknowledge the history that our Catholic community has created,” he said.
“But there are more students we are keen to hear from and would like to extend an invitation to all ex-staff and students to join our Alumni, including those who attended St John’s Regional Girls High School, St Peter Chanel Girls High School, Benedict Senior College and Trinity Catholic College which were amalgamated in 1995 to form Trinity Catholic College.”
Mr Grech said he was in the process of contacting those who have registered to see what form of meeting or events they would like to be involved in.
“Some are already getting involved as this year one of our teachers, Anthony Boccanfuso, started a ‘Shout Out to Ex-Trinity Students’ to build a network of career professionals among our ex-students to assist our current students,” he said.
Mr Boccanfuso said the initiative had been running extremely well.
“We’ve had a lawyer, accountant, engineer, real estate agent, property manager, App designer, nurse, female paramedic and even an oral health specialist come and chat to Year 10, 11 and 12 students about their career pathways,” he said.
“The students have been so inspired and we can’t thank our ex-students enough for taking time out of their busy lives to help mentor the next generation.”
