Hosted by the Lebanese Australian Friendship Committee earlier this month, the celebration included Cr Rachelle Harika sharing her story.
“I was honoured to be one of the guest speakers, sharing my personal story among other inspirational women,” she said.
“I am proud to be a part of our community where women constantly support and empower each other.”
The theme was BreakTheBias and this year was the first time men had been invited since 2019 when the association first celebrated International Women’s Day.
State MP for Lakemba, Jihad Dib, attended the celebration and said the stories were powerful reflections of overcoming the odds to achieve their goals and live a successful life.
“Each speaker moved the room with their raw and honest account of how they managed to get to the point they are now, regardless of the many obstacles they faced,” he said.
