In top 10 to download licences

AUBURN and Merrylands are among the top 10 suburbs in NSW to have downloaded a Digital Driver’s Licence (DDL) since its launch a year ago. Joining two million NSW motorists, more than 11,214 Auburn drivers and another 9,705 living in Merrylands, have opted to go digital. Customer Service Minister Victor Dominello says DDL is safe, secure and can also be used as proof of age and ID at police roadside checks.

Go local to help small business
‘GO local first and support small business’, that’s the message from the Council of Small Business Organisations (COSBOA) as the economy begins its recovery from Covid-19. “If you ‘Go local first’ and support small business, you will be directly contributing to saving jobs at the local stores and service providers you know and love,” Chief Executive Peter Strong said. “We all need to ‘go local first’ by walking through the doors of a small business, booking a local tradie, or making an order from one online.”

Teaching standards crackdown
PROFESSIONAL development for teachers will have to meet new, more rigorous criteria and focus on priority areas to be accredited by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) from 2021. Education Minister Sarah Mitchell said NESA’s endorsement of more than 750 providers and 42,000 courses for teachers, had been cancelled. “We are starting with a clean slate so that NESA can guarantee the quality and value of the courses they accredit,” she said.

Grants worth $5,000 for women
WOMEN across the State will have access to grants of up to $5,000 through the NSW Government’s new $10 million Return to Work program, as part of the 2020-21 NSW Budget. Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the program would provide women with financial assistance and targeted support including mentoring, advice and training to help them return to the workforce.
