Hurleys on song at volunteer hub

THE Governor-General of Australia, David Hurley and his wife Linda (pictured), made an unexpected visit to Punchbowl to help pack hampers and say ‘thank you’ to the many volunteers at Lighthouse Community Support.

From there, they checked in on Dr Jamal Rifi at his Belmore Medical Centre and also thanked him for vaccinating more than 30,000 people.
Mayor Khal Asfour said the visit came about after Mr Hurley reached out during the lockdown offering his support and well wishes.
“Mr Hurley has shown true leadership and friendship towards our community,” Mayor Asfour said.
“An amazing gesture which the entire community and I appreciate.
“The highlight of the their visit was when Mrs Hurley broke into song with a beautiful uplifting version of Sunshine.”
