• Bankstown RSL Sub-branch President Terry Corcoran invites all to this year’s ANZAC Day ceremony on Tuesday, April 25, from 7.30am at The Court House Reserve.
On Sunday, April 23, there will a shorter ceremony to kickstart Tuesday’s proceeding from 10.30am also at The Court House Reserve with guest speaker the State MP for Bankstown, Jihad Dib.
• Padstow RSL Sub-branch will conduct an ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the Padstow War Memorial (adjacent to Padstow Railway Station) at 6am.
Following the service, there will be a short march up Howard Street, back to Padstow RSL where breakfast and refreshments will be served.
• Campsie RSL Sub-branch invites all to their ANZAC Day service outside the Salvation Army Hall (23 Anglo Road) from 6.45am with a live band and wreath-laying by Federal MP for Watson, Tony Burke, and State MP for Canterbury, Sophie Cotsis, followed by a ticketed breakfast at Campsie RSL from 7.45am.
• Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL will conduct their ANZAC Day service from 5.30am (Café Brass will open from 4am) at Bert Crook Memorial, with outdoor seating from 5am and hosted by students from Canterbury Public and Canterbury Boys and Girls high schools.
The Ashbury Public School choir will perform ahead of a gunfire breakfast to follow at the club from 6.15am ($10 a ticket) with a fundraiser raffle drawn at 7.30am.
• Revesby Workers will host a march at 10.30am from Bankstown YMCA down Macarthur Avenue to the club for a 10.45am ANZAC Day service at the Cenotaph, with a private function to follow in The Function Centre for all service attendees who will be provided with wrist bands. A traditional game of Two Up will follow in the club’s Rogues Sports Bar from 1pm.
• Panania RSL Sub-branch members will meet at the Cenotaph at Panania Station for the 4.30am dawn service before heading to Panania Diggers for a $5 hot breakfast and Two-Up from 9am-12pm.
• Mill Hotel is also hosting Two-Up from 12-3pm.
Hundreds expected to attend services, march
ONE of Australia’s most important national occasions, ANZAC Day marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War and also commemorates all other past and serving defence personnel.
