The new clinic will “help ensure ongoing and convenient access” to Covid vaccinations, with NSW “leading the nation out of the pandemic” and on track to reach 90 per cent double vaccination weeks ahead of schedule.
Mayor Steve Christou says the centre is an ideal space to provide increased vaccination access to the community and thanked everyone for the soaring vaccination rates.
“Getting vaccinated is the fastest and safest way out of the pandemic. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get the jab done,” he said.
The State’s high vaccinations rates also meant a further easing of restrictions from yesterday (November 8) and includes no limit on visitors to a home, no rules for outdoor gatherings with fewer than 1,000 people, the reopening of indoor pools for all purposes, businesses moving to the one person per two sqm rule, nightclubs will be able to re-open dance floors, caps removed for settings other than gym and dance classes (where the 20 person cap for classes will remain) and replaced by density limits, and 100 per cent fixed seated capacity will be allowed for major recreation outdoor facilities (including stadiums, racecourses, theme parks and zoos) and entertainment facilities (including cinemas and theatres).
The rules for masks, which apply to everyone, will remain in place until the State reaches the 95 per cent double vaccination target, or December 15, whichever happens first.
Premier Dominic Perrottet says there is still a long way to go but “everybody has done an incredible job to ensure NSW can ease restrictions in a safe and considered way earlier than we planned”.
The centre will be open seven days a week, 8am-4pm. Bookings are strongly encouraged and walk-in vaccinations will also be available.
Hub taking over for jab
THE Granville Centre has been transformed into a mass vaccination centre as the Qudos Bank Arena Vaccination Centre – the biggest in the State – closed its doors.
