How west was won

STATE MPs Lynda Voltz and Julia Finn have retained the seats of Auburn and Granville in Labor’s landslide victory in Saturday’s election, while Parramatta Lord Mayor Donna Davis won the seat of Parramatta.

Premier-elect Chris Minns said “the people of NSW voted to put in a government that would put people at the heart of all decisions making”.
He said there would be many huge challenges ahead but his team was ready to govern.
TRAFFIC concerns and chaos on the trains will top the agenda when State MP for Auburn, Lynda Voltz, meets with the new Premier-elect Chris Minns.
Labor won the State Election with a huge swing against the Coalition and will form a majority government for the first time in 12 years.
Thankful to the people of Auburn for their ongoing support and returning her to the seat, Ms Voltz said the “resounding result” was testament to concerns over the traffic and trains chaos created by the previous Liberal government.
“My first meetings will be with the Minister for Roads and the Minister for Transport to ascertain the solutions for our local community,” she said.
Ms Voltz had for many years called on the previous NSW Government to invest in “congestion busting road infrastructure”, with many local roads becoming a “nightmare”.
State MP for Granville, Julia Finn, also thanked the community for its ongoing support and the chance to represent the electorate for another four years.
“After 12 years under the Liberals and Nationals, NSW needed a fresh start,” she said.
“The people of Granville voted to invest in our essential services and support the nurses, teachers, and paramedics who keep them running.
“They voted for better schools and hospitals, and to protect essential public assets like Sydney Water.”
Honoured and grateful to have been returned with a swing of almost 13 per cent, she is looking for forward to continuing to work for local people in the Minns Labor Government.
It was a clean sweep in the area, with Parramatta Lord Mayor Donna Davis pulling in the voters for a huge win in the seat of Parramatta.
Mr Minns said the people of NSW voted for a fresh start and “we will not let them down”.
He said the win was a vote of support for nurses, teachers, paramedics and police, who had done so much for the State, especially during the pandemic, and for the removal of the unfair wages.
