How club brews up Silver Award victory

CHEERS to Bankstown Sports’ Basement Brewhouse after taking out the 2020 Silver Award for its Australian-style Pale Ale.

Lighter bodied than its bigger American-style brother, the Basement Brewhouse Australian-style pale ale is a great beer that will please all palates. Pale in colour, it presents a fresh hop profile imparting a medium length of bitterness, enough to keep the seasoned craft beer drinker interested, but not too overpowering for those just starting to branch out.
Basement Brewhouse Head Brewer, Mark Neal, said receiving a Silver Medal for the Pale Ale at this year’s INDIES – a celebration of independent beer and open only to Australian independent breweries – after taking home a Bronze Medal at last year awards night, was “very humbling and an amazing result for our team”.
“Our focus from the beginning has been to produce a quality product batch after batch and I believe the result from this year’s INDIES is a true reflection of our team’s passion and dedication to our craft,” he said.
Winning brews are selected based on sensory-ability, industry and peer recognition, knowledge of beer styles and the brewing process. Thirty-one judges critiqued 696 beers from indie brewers country-wide.
