Hospital gets $25m tonic

CONSTRUCTION of the new $25 million Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital Emergency Department will begin later this year with design plans released last week.
The new emergency department will include more treatment spaces; additional short stay unit capacity; enhanced emergency care for the local community, in a safe, contemporary facility; and faster initiation of treatment, which are all expected to help shorten waiting times.
State MP for East Hills, Wendy Lindsay, said the completion of the designs was another milestone in the $25m redevelopment, which will provide a first class ED for the south-western Sydney community.
“I am very impressed with all the work that has gone into these designs, which follows a long process of planning and consultation involving South Western Sydney Local Health District, hospital staff and community groups,” she said.
“This redevelopment project will provide the community with an upgraded emergency department designed to meet the needs of all community members requiring emergency care, well into the future.”
