Holroyd Rotary Charity Golf Day places available

GOLF lovers can look forward to a fun day out when the Rotary Club of Holroyd hosts its 21st Annual Charity Golf Day at Cumberland Golf Club on Friday, November 3.

Raising more than $200,000 over the years, the club has distributed the funds to a range of welfare organisations and this year, will support research into prostate cancer, the second most common cancer diagnosed in men and the third most common cause of cancer death, and Parkinson’s disease, a chronic, debilitating degenerative disorder of the central nervous system for which there is no known cure.
With the Cumberland Council getting on board as a Tee and Green Sponsor and donating $750, Rotary Club of Holroyd co-president and charity golf organiser for seven years, Sofia O’Donoughue said that as well supporting such worthwhile causes, the day was all about having fun.
“There will be raffles to win, silent auctions and auctioning of a cricket bat signed by Sir Donald Bradman and an original painting of arguably Australia’s best cricketer,” she said.
“Comprising four players, the team’s registration fee is $600 or $750 to sponsor a hole but they receive free breakfast, lunch, drinks and a golf cart plus get to enjoy a great day.”
With positions still vacant on some teams, those keen to have a hit and contribute to helping find a cure to a deadly disease, email Sofia at odonou@bigpond.net.au.
