Auburn Police were patrolling Alice Street, Auburn, last Sunday about 8.30pm, when they attempted to stop an SUV, which had been reported stolen from Auburn last Wednesday.
A pursuit was initiated when the driver allegedly failed to stop; it continued to Railway Parade, Granville, where it hit four parked – and unoccupied – vehicles and rolled onto its roof.
The driver left the scene and police arrested two passengers.
Paramedics treated a 35-year-old man before taking him to hospital in a stable condition. He was released into police custody early Monday and was charged with enter vehicle with consent of owner, be carried in conveyance without consent of owner, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.
A 41-year-old woman was charged with enter vehicle with consent of owner, be carried in conveyance without consent of owner, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, passenger not disclose driver’s/other passenger’s identity.
A number of items, suspected to have been stolen – were found in the crashed vehicle and have been taken for further examination.
