Helping man flee arrests

TWO women have been charged with allegedly helping a Greenacre man escape from police when they came knocking to speak to him over firearm offences.

Police attended a home on Narelle Crescent in Greenacre last Thursday about 6am, to speak to a 33-year-old man as part of an ongoing firearm investigation, however, it is understood he fled the scene when they arrived.
The area was cordoned off, while police with the assistance of the Dog Squad, Public Order and Riot Squad and PolAir, attempted to locate the man.
During a search of the address, police allegedly located a firearm, ammunition, 3D printer and Dedicated Encrypted Criminal Communication Device (DECCD), which will undergo further forensic examination.
Police have suggested a number of people allegedly assisted the man in evading police.
A few hours later, two women aged 28 and 35, were arrested at a service station on Waterloo Road. The 28-year-old was charged with two counts of acquire pistol subject to firearms prohibition order, acquire firearm without licence of permit, not keep firearm safely, hinder apprehension person who committed serious offence and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty and the 35-year-old was charged with four counts of hinder apprehension of person who committed serious offence.
