Help Pasifika youth grow potential

A COOK Island Dance Group showcase and cultural feast have helped to celebrate the end of Pacific Young Leaders’ year-long project at Auburn Youth Centre.

The project was developed with a committee of Pasifika young people who co-designed and implemented a series of workshops focusing on leadership, education and employment to help empower youth to reach their full potential.
The Pacific Youth Leadership committee comprised Diolo Gabriella Wong, Jimone Schmidt, Elisi Lavaki, George Aleamotua, Maile Hiva and Akanisi-Ellie Rokocoko.
Described as a huge success, the workshops culminated in an employment session at Auburn Youth Centre which attracted 106 students from six local high schools, with students giving it a thumbs up.
“These workshops really helped in terms of looking at what I want to do in the future,” one attendee said.
