Hawks swoop to a draw after resting key players

NEWLY crowned NPL3 premiers Stanmore Hawks will have the week off to recoup and prepare for a grand final qualifier after an entertaining 2-2 with Bankstown United.

With Stanmore resting some key personnel, it was always going to be a tricky contest.
Bankstown came out with a physical fast paced game plan resulting in a dominant first half display and a 1-0 half time advantage.
The Hawks came out in the second half with a lot more intensity and took a deserved lead when Jonah Carragher playing in the uncustomary striker role and sub Peter Yannopoulos scored in quick succession.
Bankstown regrouped and peppered the Stanmore goal getting a deserved equaliser after a deflected shot fell to the feet of their midfielder who tapped it into an open net.
Stanmore took a back to the wall approach for the final 20 minutes and combined with some sublime saves by the best player on the pitch in keeper Nick Carosi, hung on for a draw.
