Hawks snatch win

IN a thrilling encounter Stanmore Hawks have overcome Dulwich Hill 2-0 after a scoreless first half.

Swooped in to seal deal at last second

The first half of the NPL 3 Round 20 match was played in the middle of the park with neither side showing defensive cracks, resulting in a half-time stalemate.
Stanmore started the second half at pace sending wave after wave of attacking football at their rivals with Jovan Blagojevic and Connor Quilligan taking shots at will.
Wing backs Tim Wohlfiel and Angus Chance were causing havoc down the flanks feeding front me Peter Yannopoulos and Jonah Carragher.
Dulwich Hill looked out on their feet, relying on long high balls that were expertly defused by Sam Awad in the middle of the park with the assistance of Nathan Niski and Oliver Stickland.
The Hawks continued the onslaught but poor finishing and reflex saves by the Dully keeper kept the game at 0-0 with full-time fast approaching.
With the clock showing 86 minutes, Stanmore finally got their deserved goal when veteran Awad was at the end of an Alberto Parea corner.
Deep into extra time, Quilligan then sealed the three points with a crisp finish after being played in by Blagojevic.
Next week Stanmore take on in form Camden at Ron Dine park.
