Hawks snatch win in final seconds

IN another thrilling encounter, Round 18 of NPL3 saw Stanmore Hawks score a 4-3 win over Dunbar in a classic clash between two attacking sides.

Dunbar started brightly and got behind the Stanmore defence early resulting in a clinical finish for a 1-0 lead.
Stanmore striker Jovan Blagojevic set up Alberto Parea shortly after and the Spaniard finished in style from outside the box to ensure a stale mate at half time.
Dunbar resumed the second half on the front foot and took the lead once more when two reflex saves from Nick Carosi weren’t enough to prevent a tap by the Dunbar midfielder.
Captain Blagojevic then stepped up and ensured Stanmore would regain the lead when he buried two headers in five minutes.
With two minutes remaining, Dunbar were brought down in the box and tied the scores with a well taken penalty.
With seconds to go and an inevitable draw looming, Dunbar whipped in a free kick which was intercepted by speedster Tim Wohlfiel. Turbo Tim then went on a 70-metre solo run and finished with precision to send the Stanmore faithful into raptures.
Next week Stanmore make the long trek to Bathurst to face the Western NSW Mariners.
