Hawks make mince meat of prey yet again

STANMORE has scored a 6-1 win over Western NSW on a freezing Bathurst afternoon in round 19 of NPL3.

They took the lead on 17 minutes when Peter Yannopoulos finished with precision after a nice assist from Connor Quilligan.
The Mariners levelled almost immediately with a bullet header beating keeper Nick Carosi.
Both sides were struggling with the windy conditions resulting in a half-time stalemate.
Stanmore knew if they could make their passes stick, they could run away with the game and that’s exactly how the 2nd half panned out.
Stanmore were back in front on 47 minutes when Vic Koutsoufis played Quilligan in for a nice finish. Oliver Stickland then finished from close range and when Yannopoulos scored two minutes later from a Tim Wohlfiel cross, the flood gates had truly opened.
Gun striker Jovan Blagojevic completed the rout with a tap in from another Wohlfiel assist and then finished the night with a spectacular reflex scissor kick after an initial save from the Mariners keeper.
A great day for the Stanmore senior teams with wins in all three grades.
Next week Stanmore Hawks are back at Arlington for the local derby against Dulwich Hill.
