Hawks fly in to maintain equal first

NPL 3 Round 12 saw Stanmore Hawks dispatch eight goals past Sydney University to maintain equal first place.

Jovan Blagojevic and Peter Yannopoulos headed past the Uni keeper for an early 2-0 lead following pin point crosses from Angus Chance and Tim Wohlfiel.
Chance and Wohlfiel were near unstoppable on the night creating space for Blagojevic, Yannopoulos and Jonah Carragher.
Connor Quilligan, Alberto Perea and Riccardo Lo Russo were in sparkling form controlling the mid field in style.
On 20 minutes, Blagojevic had his second header hit the back of net from a Perea corner and when Yannopoulos scored his trade mark thunderbolt from distance and Wohlfiel slotted from an acute angle, the Hawks were 5-0 up.
Uni rallied in the second half but could not trouble big men Harrison Brown and Oliver Stickland ensuring a quiet night for keeper Nick Carosi.
Early in the second half another Perea corner found the head of Quilligan to extend the lead.
A further two goals to Blagojevic finished the match in style with the strong centre forward producing a man of the match 4 goal performance.
Next week Stanmore host NPL 3 newcomers Bankstown United at Arlington Oval. Kick-Off 7pm.
