It matches everyday people with a young person at high school for a one-to-one mentoring experience – and is on the lookout for more mentors.
All you need is the desire to make a difference! Expert online training will enable you to mentor a Year 8 student who needs a trusted, neutral, positive role model who is willing to listen.
Once matched with a student in your community, the program is structured, managed and supported by a qualified counsellor.
In addition to a sense of purpose and a rewarding contribution, mentors also report personal growth; increased empathy; increased leadership skills; increased self-esteem; the ability to listen without judgement; and the ability to apply mentoring skills at home and at work.
Rewarding and challenging, it’s a win, win experience; for you, the students, the schools and the partner organisations.
“Together we empower the community to build a brighter future where young people are more resilient and able to thrive,” a spokesperson said.
The commitment is two hours a week, during school hours for terms two and three, commencing in April.
Could you, or someone you know, volunteer your time to ensure young people in your community feel heard, valued and supported?
