Have say on safety roundabout needed

THE number of accidents and near misses at a busy Lidcombe intersection, could be reduced with a proposal for a roundabout.

Cumberland Council has invited residents to comment on plans for the Georges Avenue, Nottinghill Road and London Road intersection after Councillor Helen Hughes advocated for improvements on behalf of concerned residents.
Cr Hughes said that unfortunately, in its current arrangement, it did not make for a safe neighbourhood.
“As a life-long resident of Lidcombe nearby to this area, I’m very aware that, over time, traffic movement has increased in this intersection, particularly as it is a thoroughfare along Georges Avenue to East Street,” she said.
“Safety is paramount. It is pleasing to see this request now going through the consultation process.”
Residents have been urged to express an opinion and provide a submission to the council before next Tuesday.
