Have say in how to support youth

VOLUNTEERS of all ages are being sought for a Youth Off the Streets project to find new ways to support young people through the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

The Communities Inspiring and Teaching Youth (CITY) Project will also give community members the opportunity to connect and collaborate on initiatives that make a difference for local youth.
According to Youth Off The Streets’ Jacqui Parker, many Canterbury Bankstown youth are feeling the pressure that comes with such an intense lockdown.
“The CITY Project is about community supporting community through lockdown and beyond,” she said.
“It’s also an amazing opportunity for Canterbury Bankstown residents to have a real say in what happens in their community.”
Working in partnership with Community Minds, Canterbury Bankstown Council, Canterbury City Community Centre, Headspace Bankstown and other community organisations, the CITY Project will be volunteer-led – and Covid-safe – with a range of opportunities for volunteers to acquire community leadership skills while collaborating on initiatives that positively impact on young people.
Youth Off The Streets has provided young people with safety, support and opportunities to build a positive future for the last 30 years.
“This is a timely and exciting initiative and it has the potential to make a lasting difference to young people and the community as a whole; I really encourage anyone who cares about supporting young people to get involved,” Jacqui said.
