Hands over ‘Outloud’ reins

TIM Carroll has left the building! The beloved 2013 Bankstown Citizen of the Year has retired after over 28 years at the helm of BYDS.
Over the last 28 years, the organisation has initiated and executed over 800 arts and cultural projects, raised a generation of professional artists and helped transform Bankstown’s cultural landscape.
Under the new name ‘Outloud’, the organisation will continue to work with thousands of people in the area to tell their stories.
Returning from Berlin to take on the role, new director Finn O’Branagáin has previously lived and worked in Perth, Brisbane and Darwin.
She brings many years of experience in arts work and in her own practice as a writer for performance.
Outgoing Director of Outloud, Tim said: “It is such a thrill for me to be handing over to Finn. Young, bright, enthusiastic and highly experienced, Finn has skills much in demand in Bankstown and surrounds and I wish her every success as Director of Outloud and the custodian of nearly 30 years of projects with community.”
Chair of the board Khai Ngo said: “After an extensive search, we’re happy to welcome Finn to continue the important legacy created by Tim and BYDS. We’re excited about this year’s program and look forward to the strong community support through this vital transition period.”
Finn said: “I’m excited about stepping into this role, supporting artists and community members to make their voices heard. Our upcoming projects promise to be meaningful and impactful. I can’t wait for them to begin!”
