According to the guidelines announced by NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian last week, hairdressers and beauty salons will join pubs, gyms and retail shops in being able to open up to the fully vaccinated from Monday, October 11.
All venues will need to abide by a one person per four square metre rule. In addition to the restriction, hair and beauty salons have been told they can only see five clients at a time.
Planning to go one step further, Fatana Wahab of Fatana’s Makeover House at Guildford, says she is planning to have only three customers in her salon at any one time.
“We won’t be in a rush, we will start slowly but we are thrilled and excited to open again,” she said.
Likewise, Ozhan Ada from Ozzy Hair Design in Auburn, says he’ll do whatever it takes to open up his doors.
“We’ll only be having fully vaccinated customers and the five-person limit is no problem,” he said.
“In fact, I am starting to take bookings.”
Layal Zayed of Black Rose Hair & Beauty in Old Guildford, is not so sure.
“We are looking forward to opening but not taking bookings yet as things could change,” she said.
“We’re just waiting to see what the Government says later this week.”
Corinne Irish of Hair Flair by Corinne in Guildford as well as Gokmen Tanak of International Barber Salon in Auburn, however, have started to work out their bookings.
“After having three months off, it’s a little overwhelming to get back to work but all the deep cleaning is done and there’s no problem limiting client numbers; when the day comes, I’ll be over the moon,” Corinne said.
Hair salons set to open
SOME hairdressers and beauty salon operators are calling on the NSW Government to scrap client limits to be imposed under the State’s roadmap to freedom but many in Cumberland are only too happy to open their doors again and follow public health orders.
