Guard of Honour for resident

AS Nora Kenneally, 95, left Bupa Yagoona for the last time last week on her way to being laid to rest with late husband Paddy, staff formed a moving ‘Guard of Honour’ to wish her well.

Bupa Yagoona General Manager Sirjana Kc said staff members agreed that kindness was something they all learnt from Nora and the Guard of Honour was a way to honour and farewell her.
“Two years ago, Nora moved to residential care at Bupa not far from the family home,” she said.
“Here she made many new friends especially among the staff, always welcoming them with a smile.”
Born in a Youghal, County Cork, Ireland, the Yagoona resident of 60 years, came to Australia in 1952 to marry John (Paddy) Kenneally.
“Nora loved being around people, happy to strike up a conversation with anyone,” Sirjana added.
“Introduction was by way of ‘how are we’ in her soft Irish brogue; she was involved in her parish at Christ the King Catholic Church Yagoona and the St Vincent De Paul Society which she supported until age 92.”
Nora’s family said: “One of Nora’s most endearing qualities was to make every single person she came across feel special. She loved being with people, talking with people, and above all, helping people in need.
“Nora did this both quietly and through her volunteer work.
“She would have been delighted and very humbled with the Guard of Honour tribute.”
Nora is survived by her four children, Helen, Michael, Sean and Gerald and their families.
