Group finds solution for music loving son, 21, living with range of disability

HAPPY and affectionate, Punchbowl resident Liam, 21, enjoys playing music and many sports but lives with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and low vision.

Full-time carer Mum Dianne has to supervise most of his endeavours as he is in a wheelchair but decided to reach out to volunteer group TAD which works to improve the physical and emotional health among people with disability.
“I would have to sit at the music table with him for hours to make sure he didn’t fall over and so he could reach all of his instruments,” she said.
Dianne was able to get a customised table with musical instruments mounted for Liam, thanks to TAD.
“He can now sit there safely and play whenever he wants,” she said.
“This table has given him new independence and he is enjoying making music.”
Dianne is thankful for TAD’s commitment to helping provide the right solution for Liam.
“I always tell people when they are looking for different solutions, have you tried TAD? It is so hard to find what you need, and TAD will work to find a solution for you.”
Since 1975, TAD volunteers have created over 50,000 solutions to change the lives of people with disability.
Whether that be to use an iPad, ride a bike or bathe a child independently – TAD’s volunteers have been there, using their skills and partnering with the community to make these goals a reality.
