After losing 31-7 loss to Fiji in their semi-final, the Aussies Rugby Sevens regrouped to score first against South Africa in the Bronze medal match.
However, the Australians was left shattered after missing out on a Paris 2024 bronze medal by the barest of margins, with South Africa scoring with the last play of the match to win it 26-19.
Trailing Zambia 4-2 at half-time, the Matildas rallied in the second half to score four goals in one of the greatest comebacks in Olympic football history.
The result gives Australia a much-needed three points after their opening loss to Germany, and gives them some buffer-room heading into their third and final group game against the USA on Thursday.

THE Australian Rugby Sevens side has finished fourth at the Paris Olympics, with Campsie-born Dietrich Roache playing a vital role, and former Bankstown Lions star Mary Fowler’s Matildas have kept their quest for an Olympic medal alive after an incredible come-from-behind win over Zambia on Monday.
