Under a draft framework which is open for public comment until the end of this month, high density development of four to five storeys is proposed along the Woodville Road Corridor, and First, Second And Third streets would be opened to medium to high density development of three to four storeys.
East-west connectivity would also be improved along William Street, while existing heritage and conservation areas “that contribute to local heritage significance” will be reviewed and retained.
Mayor Steve Christou said Granville was identified as a ‘Principal Local Centre’ in the Cumberland 2030: Our Strategic Local Planning Statement and the proposed framework was the next step in “outlining a vision” for the area.
“We want to know what’s important to residents and the types of services, spaces, and amenities they want in the future,” he said.
Following the consultation, detailed planning controls developed for sites within the town centre and surrounding streets, will be presented to the council in the second quarter of this year.
