Their junior AFL team defeated Punchbowl Juniors in the grand final, while the senior team defeated Granville Boys Team 2.
These achievements followed the AFL junior boys taking home the trophy at the Stephen Coniglio Cup competition a week earlier against East Hills Boys High School.
The competition was organised by the GWS Giants, with Granville Boys students taking part in a range of clinics and workshops to enhance game experience during the term.
Granville Boys Sports co ordinator Kevin O’Halloran said the boys’ teamwork truly paid off.
“We are incredibly proud of them for representing our school with such sportsmanship,” he said.
“A lot of the boys come from a rugby league background so it’s been quite smooth transitioning to the AFL game rules.
“These boys are committed, passionate and just love their sport, with some having what it takes to go all the way.”
In a testament to this, two junior boys and two seniors have been invited to attend the Giants’ Bachar Houli Academy to develop elite skills during the school holidays.
Granville Boys juniors, seniors win Cup
AS a reward for their hard work and determination, Granville Boys High School junior and senior AFL teams have secured another year as the reigning champions of the Bachar Houli Cup.
