Governor visit as top achievers win

HELPING to inspire all, NSW Governor Margaret Beazley visited Al-Faisal College Auburn and spoke about the importance of attaining a good education with perseverance, hard work and effort.

She had the opportunity to hear from students regarding more girls studying STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects with a view to pursue future careers in the industry, the school’s Women in Leadership program, the SRC and sporting success during 2022 and other programs including the interfaith and dialogue workshops.
Executive Principal Safia Khan Hassanein said the visit included a special assembly of invited guests including Auburn MP Lynda Voltz and Mayor Lisa Lake.
“We presented Her Excellency with a crystal award and a bouquet in appreciation of her visit,” she said.
The Governor’s visit was ahead of the annual award presentation day which saw high achievers win recognition as well as College Managing Director Shafiq Khan and Director General Dr Intaj Ali presenting Jim Hanna of the AISNSW (Association of Independent Schools), with a cheque for $27,000.
“This money was collected from students at the three Al-Faisal College schools (Auburn, Campbelltown and Liverpool) to help families that were impacted by natural disasters this year,” Mrs Hassanein said.
“We hope that this amount will make a difference for those families in need, especially those areas affected by floods.
“Students had also raised $15,000 to help orphans and families which was distributed equally among three charity organisations.”
