Got it from Dad, get it for Dad

THIS Father’s Day, Stockland Merrylands will be teaming up with The Fathering Project, a not-for profit organisation committed to promoting positive fathering behaviour.

The Fathering Project shares evidence-based research and resources and offers support services to encourage fathers to engage with their children, whatever their ages, and be the best dads they can be.
On Saturday, September 2, representatives from The Fathering Project will be available at Stockland Merrylands to raise awareness about the important role of fathers in their children’s lives and profile their outreach services and networks.
Angela Vogt, Centre Manager of Stockland Merrylands, said following the success of The Fathering Project workshops and paper-plane making at one of our centres last year, it’s great to build on our relationship with them.
“We’re happy to host The Fathering Project who bring their passion for fatherhood and improving the lives of local families and children to our centre and the Merrylands community,” Ms Vogt said.
“There’ll also be some fun in-centre activities with a Dad & Kids’ Scavenger Hunt as well as a photo booth that’s part of our Got it from Dad, get it for Dad campaign.”
Rodney Eade said Father’s Day reminds people that being a great dad was about more than just being present – it’s about showing up, giving it your all and making every moment count in the lives of our children.
“Spending quality time with your kids is the greatest gift of all,” Mr Eade said.
“That’s why this year at The Fathering Project we are encouraging dads to spend 10 more minutes of quality time with their kids. It might not seem like a lot – but it compounds over time and makes a world of difference to our kids.”
The Got it from Dad, get it for Dad campaign encourages customers to say thanks to the dads in their life by showing they love them in the same way they love us.
“Dads have passed down many of the things that make us unique, from the shape of our nose to our passion for cooking or music, and customers – kids or kids and their dads – can capture those shared features and interests in the photo booth,” Ms Vogt said.
“Fathers can be difficult to buy gifts for so the campaign also prompts customers to tap into the passions we share courtesy of dad, from a pizza oven for the culinary dad to Bluetooth speakers for muso dad.”
