Mayor Steve Christou said it was an opportunity for amateur adult players and juniors to play alongside professionals, with the free two-day event (July 1-2) showcasing Cumberland City Council’s outstanding golf courses.
“We’re excited to host and look forward to welcoming golfers of all ages and highlight the incredible improvements and upgrades to the council’s golf courses,” he said
“We’re really glad to be able to host this for the community and have some of the best golfers in Australia play at our very own Woodville and Rosnay golf courses.”
The tournament is for amateur and junior golfers and includes a lunch and drink service, prize money, gifts and more.
Professional Golf Australia player Alex Edge, now an amateur, started off playing golf as a junior in a similar tournament.
“As a young kid, the tournament was a good introduction to see what real golf was all about. As a golf pro, it’s fun to play with the kids … you can give a little tip and it goes a long way,” he said.
