Go up in world as Uni on way

THE new world-class university campus in the heart of Bankstown will soon start to take shape.

The $260 million, 19-storey vertical university has been given the go ahead by the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment. Ground works began in October 2020, however, this latest approval means the building work will now get underway.
The campus, which is expected to be complete late 2022, will accommodate 10,000 students and 650 staff.
Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour was thrilled to hear the proposal had been approved.
“The new campus will almost single-handedly transform Bankstown’s CBD and further supports Canterbury-Bankstown’s status as an education and health precinct,” Mayor Asfour said.
“It is exciting for Bankstown to finally have a new university in the heart of its CBD, with the injection of student life, activity, activated streets and eateries, all adding to the colour and vitality of our City.
“Student life is sure to enhance not only Paul Keating Park and the many businesses around it, but the entire Canterbury-Bankstown area by injecting tens of millions into the local economy every year.
“Bankstown is truly becoming a place of opportunity for all.”
