Students and parents are invited to share a ‘hats off’ selfie to celebrate teachers, and to describe what they mean to you.
Grab your hat – beret, beanie, bucket, bowler – and create a post on social media, using #WorldTeachersDay2023 and @aitsl
To further celebrate, you can connect with your parents’ committee to host a morning tea for teachers or create thank you gifts, cards or art.
The wisdom and expertise of teachers shines brightly in NSW communities, and you can also nominate a teacher who illuminates your school and enter their name and a message on the NSW ‘teaching gem’ map.
Give a shout out to a teacher you care about, past or present, who motivates and inspires you and others.
Go to nesa-wtd2023.visualise.today, click on the message button and you will be asked for a postcode where your gem will appear. Type in your teacher’s initials and a short personal message.
You will not be asked for your name, email address or any personal information. All submissions are anonymous.
Some of the ‘gems’ already include:
“Mrs Sor guides me. Thank you for your patience and kindness. You are doing a sensational job for the local community.” – Wattawa Heights Public School.
“Mr Mahrous inspires me and supports me. The most amazing, creative and engaging science teacher. Thanks for making learning fun and interesting sir. You inspire me to become a scientist when I finish school!” – Sir Joseph Banks High School.
“Miss El Tahan supports me, helps me, and guides me. Thank you for being a beautiful teacher who always shows us you care for us.” – Georges Hall Public School.
