Give a ‘shout out’ on World Teachers’ Day

WORLD Teachers’ Day in NSW will be celebrated this Friday, October 27, and is an opportunity to recognise all 170,000 primary, secondary and early childhood teachers working in NSW.

Students and parents are invited to share a ‘hats off’ selfie to celebrate teachers, and to describe what they mean to you.
Grab your hat – beret, beanie, bucket or bowler – and create a post on social media, using #WorldTeachersDay2023 and @aitsl
To further celebrate, you can connect with your parent committee to host a morning tea for teachers or create thank you gifts, cards or art.
The wisdom and expertise of teachers shines brightly in NSW communities, and you can also nominate who illuminates your school and enter their name and a message on the NSW ‘teaching gem’ map.
Give a shout out to a teacher you care about, past or present, who motivates and inspires you and others.
Go to nesa-wtd2023.visualise.today, click on the message button and you will be asked for a postcode where your gem will appear. Type in your teacher’s initials and a short personal message.
You will not be asked for your name, email address or any personal information. All submissions are anonymous.
Some of the ‘gems’ already include:
“Miss Ters guides me. Miss Ters has only just joined our school community this year but has already made a mark in her role as REC. Thank you for guiding and supporting our students in their faith.” – St John’s Catholic Primary School in Auburn.
“Miss Kolenko inspires me.” – St Peter Chanel Catholic Primary School in Regents Park.
