Girls score place in NSW Baseball side

HITTING a home run for Bankstown, four East Hills Raptor Baseball Club players have been selected to play in the inaugural NSW All Girls National Championship in Lismore from May 8-12.

Players (pictured) Isabella Kozanic, Nevaeh Fungalei, Isla Metuisela and Adele Acosta are very excited to have been selected in the first national competition dedicated to Little League girls.
East Hills Baseball Club Vice President Jill Archer said the upcoming tournament followed the first all-girl Cronulla Sutherland Junior Baseball Association Div 2 Little League Minors team competing alongside the boys/mixed teams at the Baseball NSW State Championships recently.
“Our first girls team did very well and went close to winning,” she said.
“As well as our seven players, Adele Acosta, Indigo Fing, Neveah Fungalei, Layla Kelly, Isabella Kozanic, Isla Metuisela and Manaia Wainohu, Head Coach Stephen Kelly and Pitching Coach Peter Archer all come from our club.”
She said the NSW All Girls National Championship was a milestone event for the girls, getting the opportunity to represent their State on the national stage.
“We wish them the best of luck in Lismore,” she said.
