Girls raising funds to aid hospital sick

SHOWING off their community spirit at a tender age, two Padstow sisters Elizabeth, 8, and Aleksandra, 5, and their god sisters Mila, 8, and Avaya, 6, are on a mission to raise funds for the Starlight Foundation at Westmead Children’s Hospital.

Developing their business, ‘Little Miss’, while on Facetime during the lockdown, the girls decided they wanted to make things like bracelets, origami and squishy balls to sell and after a few short weeks, have managed to raise $40.
Mum Jodi said the Starlight Foundation was a charity close to their heart after the family spent so much time at Westmead Children’s Hospital over the last few years, supporting Elizabeth while she underwent treatment for Juvenile Arthritis.
“The Starlight captains always bring a smile to our faces, “ she said.
“They do a great job, definitely brightening up everyone’s day, even the parents.
“Our girls decided they wanted to do something to help.”
Jodi said they were told last week that Elizabeth is now in remission, thanks to the benefits of a new drug.
“We are thrilled about that and as parents, extremely proud of all the girls’ efforts,” she said.
“Creating products for their stall not only nurtured their creative side but also their entrepreneurial skills … and they plan to keep going.
“Our hearts are filled with joy and we want to thank the community for their support.”
