The girls joined Minister for Women, Bronnie Taylor, Football Australia’s Sarah Walsh, Head of FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Project, Rhiannon Martin, FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia’s Jane Fernandez, Football NSW CEO Stuart Hodge and members of the CommBank Matildas including Chloe Logarzo, Hana Lowry and Brylee Henry. The soccer club group comprised Zehra Nasufov, 6, Bonnie Nguyen, 9, Laila Elrozz, 8, Yujin Jun, 8, Rubby Torres, 10, and Saoirse Brown, 8, and Zehra’s mum Samira said they couldn’t stop talking about the event telling friends and family how they had met the Matildas.
“Chloe told the girls how soccer was such a beautiful game and hopefully that she would see some of them playing for Australia one day,” Samira said.
“I hope our girls will stick with soccer even if it’s for just for fun just to keep them engaged in sport and have a healthy lifestyle.”
Girls mark ‘500 days to go’ with Matilda stars
A GROUP of girls from North Bankstown Soccer Club, got to meet their heroes when they attended a Sydney Opera House event earlier this month to mark ‘500 days to go’ until the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, the world’s biggest women’s sporting event, gets underway in Australia and New Zealand.
