Giants snatched win in nail-biter

TRAILING by three points and with less than three minutes remaining, Brent Daniels booted a goal that snatched victory from the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.

The heroic effort didn’t come without a little controversy of its own but reflected a game played with some individually brilliant performances and as well as plenty of spite from both teams.
Jeremy Cameron was again the highest scorer for the Giants, kicking three goals, while Jeremy Finlayson potted two of his own.
Also kicking two goals and racking up 30 disposals, Toby Greene’s performance was overshadowed by his second consecutive match report.
It could see him miss this week’s game if he accepts a a one-match ban for making unreasonable or unnecessary contact to the eye region of Brisbane’s Lachie Neale.
The penalty comes a week after he escaped suspension but was fined $7,500 for an incident with Western Bulldogs midfielder Marcus Bontempelli in the clubs’ elimination final.
In a game with never a dull moment, fans were treated to some frantic play with the lead changing 10 times.
However the Giants finished 12.11 (83) to 11.14 (80), and head into Saturday’s preliminary final at the MCG against Collingwood for the right to play in this year’s Grand Final.
