Giants in fight but out of time

ON the back foot for most of the game, GWS Giants suffered a 65-point loss to the Collingwood Magpies on Sunday night.

Outside of a brief surge from the Giants at the start of the third term, the result never looked in doubt for Collingwood, winning 18.12 (120) to 7.13 (55).
The Giants fought back after half-time, kicking three of the first five goals of the third term as they got on top at stoppages through Josh Kelly and ruck Matt Flynn.
The Giants registered the first behind of the game, but from the moment a Magpie produced a moment of magic five minutes in, Collingwood was rarely troubled.
Best players for the Giants were Stephen Coniglio, Lachlan Ash, Tom Green and Jesse Hogan.
Despite not registering a lot of wins, the Giants have won many admirers this year for their ability to stay in all of their games so far this season, fighting until the final siren.
The Giants take on St Kilda this Sunday from 4.40pm at Giants Stadium.
