Giant tree to inspire others

Robert and his Father Yusef El - Kahil put up Xmas tree decorations in the front yard in preparation for Xmas.

PUNCHBOWL florist Robert El-Kahil’s family had always enjoyed putting effort into their Christmas light spectacular in their front yard but were despairing this year that they seemed to be running out of space.

That was until Robert had the brilliant idea of putting a 5m-high Christmas tree in the yard to hold some of the lights.
A sign of everlasting life with God or the ‘tree of life’, the Christmas tree has been a main festive symbol for centuries, with Robert’s tree now home to 14,000 lights.
“We seemed to be the only house in the street with Christmas lights and now we’ve got this great big tree, we are hoping it will inspire others to get into the Christmas spirit,” Robert said.
“The magic of Christmas brings love and peace to you and to the world.”
You can check out Robert’s tree at 7 Carrisbrook Avenue, Punchbowl.
